Ellen Papineau (Almont High School) Madison Engstrom (Romeo High School) Emma Harrington (Council of Michigan Foundations) Rob Collier (President of Council of Michigan Foundations) Jake Sliman (Dryden High School)
On Friday, June 22, the Four County Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Committee, or Y.A.C., sent representatives to attend the 2012 Leadership in Philanthropy Summer Camp cohosted by The Council of Michigan Foundations and The League Michigan. Ellen Papineau (Almont High School), Madison Engstrom (Romeo High School), and Jake Sliman (Dryden High School) participated in the community focused camp. Over 450 Y.A.C. members and League Michigan representatives engaged in service learning and leadership development assemblies. These student leaders also participated in a service learning project for Kids Against Hunger, where 20,000 nutrition meals were packed and distributed.
The Four County Community Foundation’s Y.A.C. was also the recipient of one of four state recognized awards. The Best Use of Media was given to the Y.A.C. for the Needs Assessment Survey that was conducted in our 6 core school districts.
We would also like to recognize Ross Moore a 2010 graduate of Capac High School and sophomore at Central Michigan University. Ross is Y.A.C. alumni and is the Mawby intern for Council of Michigan Foundations. The Mawby Internship is incredibly competitive; only one intern is taken every year with applicants from all over the state.
