Lakestone Bank and Trust sent 4CCF a generous donation and asked our Board of Trustees to find projects to help low to moderate income individuals and families. The Lakestone donation will fund three meaningful projects; one each in Lapeer, Macomb, and St. Clair counties.
Lapeer County
In Lapeer County, Lakestone and 4CCF will partner with Lapeer County Community Foundation to purchase all of the meat animals needed for the 2018-2019 Project: Raising HOPE at the Lapeer ISD. Project: Raising HOPE provides locally-grown, quality meat to our neighbors in need through the Stone Soup Food Bank. Animals are raised at Ed-Tech by Agriscience students, Future Farmers of America and students with special needs from the Lapeer County Intermediate School District. When livestock is ready for market, it will be processed by local meat markets that meet USDA requirements. The meat will then go to Stone Soup Food Bank for distribution to residents in need.
Macomb County
In Macomb County, 4CCF and Lakestone are partnering with Samaritan House and Romeo Community Schools to support the 2018 Hunger Heroes Campaign. Hunger Heroes provide meals to our neighbors in need by sponsoring an individual or a family in our community. By offering a match, Lakestone and 4CCF hope to encourage RCS students and families to fully support the October 2018 campaign.
St. Clair County
In St. Clair County, the Conrad Community Center (Council on Aging in St. Clair County) will implement Garden Project 360, building raised garden beds at low-income senior apartments in Capac. The Center will also purchase several individual standing gardens for qualified seniors who may not live in the apartments. The standing gardens could be used on a patio or deck, or even moved inside for winter gardening. The project will include MSU Extension Healthy Food Workshops, complimentary lunch before the workshops, and membership in the Conrad Community Center.
Four County Community Foundation wishes to thank Lakestone Bank and Trust as they generously give back to the communities they serve. If you want to support these or any other of our wonderful projects, click on Give Now. Together we can change lives!
